RESCUE • REHABILITATE • REHOME

Hey, everyone. Tough news. I don't know how to say this without my heart breaking into a million little pieces all over again, so I guess I'll just come right out with it.
We're closing our rescue.
We don't have a choice. This year has hit us so hard, so unexpectedly. We've adopted out a total of SIX cats in 2025, despite being asked to intake multiple cats every single day. No adoptions means no space for new cats that need help, so we have been forced to say no 99% of the time. If you know me, you know that every "no" crushes my soul a little bit more. Every few hours, every day, I have to break my own heart and turn down an animal that needs help because we can't find good homes for the ones that are already in our care. No matter how hard we try, it's just not sustainable, and we're failing at our mission - saving cats.
I started this rescue nearly a decade ago with the goal of saving lives, and it feels like that dream has turned into a nightmare over the last year. We've gone from adopting out around 200 cats per year to... this. I don't know how or why it happened, but it did, and we can't turn it around. We tried and we begged, but we can't (and won't) force adopters to choose our cats over the cats at the bigger "open-to-the-public" rescues. We also can't continue to intake cats with little to no hope of us finding their forever homes, nor can we continue to ask you to support the care of the cats that end up staying with us for much longer than they should. Every cat that we currently have has been looking for a home for over 1 year, with no end in sight. Rescue isn't rescue if the cats never leave. We're supposed to be a pit stop on the road to forever, a place for cats to become healthy and happy before finding their families. We can't help the next cat that needs us if we're failing to find homes for the cats that we already have. We can't keep adding fuel to this fire. It's not fair, to anyone.
With that being said, saving lives is still the goal - we just won't be doing it alone. We will continue to foster cats under another nonprofit rescue. A more established and well-known rescue that has the ability to save so many more lives than we can save on our own. Because that's the only thing that matters. The cats. Not me, not Brandon, not our rescue, not our feelings or our broken hearts... the cats. If closing our metaphorical doors is what we need to do in order to save more of them, then so be it. The cats take priority over everything. That will never change, even if our rescue failed. I'm not too proud to accept defeat, but I care far too much about these little critters to let this stop me from helping them.
If you are one of our adopters, please know that this decision has NO impact on our commitment to our cats. If you need help with your cat or need to return him/her for any reason, we will ALWAYS be here. My personal cell phone number is listed on your adoption paperwork and in Adopterluv - please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything at all.
Thank you to everyone that has supported our rescue over the past 8 years - it means the world to us, the cats you helped us save, and their forever families.
We can't wait to save even more.
